I’ve read recently in “Eat Move Sleep” that, on average, people who are considered to have genius level talent sleep 8 hours and 36 minutes a night. I’m aware that many people wear how little they can sleep like a badge of honor. For most of us, we simply can’t function our best on little sleep.
Plan what time you want to wake up, at give yourself at least 8 hours. Tweak every week by 15 minutes are so to discover how long you need to sleep in order to wake up rested without an alarm clock.
I use white noise (available as an iPad/iPhone app) at night to go to sleep. I set the sound to go off 15 minutes before I set my alarm to go off. Now I wake up when the noise stops – it’s a much more relaxing way to wake up. I usually disable the alarm even before it goes off, and I use the quite for about ten minutes to reflect and experience the gratitude I have for all the wonderful people and things I have to fill my life.
